bkrnd DECEMBER 2010 MEETING MINUTES
linebkrnd The Dec. 14, 2010 CMF meeting was held at the home of Scott and Nancy Mays; Scott Mays gave the opening prayer.

SCRIPTURE READING
Scott Mays read from II Corinthians 9.  It tells how the service we perform for others is not only supplying the needs of God’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God.

ROLL CALL
Ed and Connie Lykins, Carol Thatcher, Scott and Nancy Mays, Cheryl Jennings, John Hendrix, Mark and Lisa St.Clair, Melissa Cooper, Lloyd and Pat Dunn, Dennis Forsythe, Fay Cline, Richard Cline, Ronnie Anderson, Zack and Tracy Waite, Josh and Christen Souder, and Jim Tutt.

SECRETARY REPORT
The report was read.  Fay Cline made a motion to accept the report.  Nancy Mays seconded the motion.  A vote was taken and it carried.

TREASURER'S REPORT
The Treasurer’s report was read, the current Building Materials Fund is $29,743.98.  There was a balance of $10,000 deposited back into the account following the return of the 2010 work trip. The treasure’s record books are open for anyone to inspect at any time if you have any questions about the account.  Cheryl Jennings made a motion to accept the report.  Dennis Forsythe seconded the motion.   A vote was taken and it carried.

OLD AND UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Ed Lykins discussed the recent work done in Gonaives and items needed when the team returns. Most of the items will be used in the plumbing system the work team installed when they were there this last October.

NEW BUSINESS
There was discussion about the work project for 2012.  Working on the church building where John Raymond ministers and a church building in the town of Ennery will be the 2012 work project.  The Ennery church is one of the 5 churches overseen by Sainsurin.

Plans are being made for a small group to return to Gonaives in June to assist in site preparation and make a list of needed materials for the building of the two church buildings in January and February of 2012.  Most of these materials will need to be purchased locally in Gonaives and be waiting on the arrival of the work team in January. It is planned to complete the footer and concrete flooring on John Raymond’s church and ready the ground of the Ennery building site while there in June.

Nancy Mays and Tracy Waite will be hosting a few days of VBS for the youth at the Bigot Church while the men are working on the future building sites.  Nancy has a friend who will be translating materials into the written language needed for the Haitians to understand.  This is a new outreach project for the CMF group. Keep this project in your prayers as they prepare.
While in Gonaives there will be a trip to the local grocery to see what grocery items will be available when the work team arrives in January.  Purchasing food items in Haiti will save 200 to 300 pounds of flight luggage for the tools and building supplies needed on the work site. The groceries may cost more but this will still be cheaper than paying for extra luggage pounds.

Sainsurin has made it known he needs a different forwarding agent for his funds received from supporters in the United States.   He has asked if anyone would be willing to assist him in this manner.  Zack Waite of the Beverly Church of Christ was to check with his members to see if someone would commit to the job.

The CMF fundraisers for 2011 were discussed.  There is a projected cost of $60,000 needed to complete the planned 2012 work project.  With the leading of the Lord, hard work on our part to carry out the fundraisers, and every ones’ prayers and support it will be accomplished. All things are done in the name of the LORD and we give him all the praise and glory for what He does through the CMF.

The CMF presentation is near completion and future dates need to be scheduled.   An update of the CMF work needs to be shared with every one who is interested in mission work and/or supporting the Christian Missionary Fellowship in the past and presently in any way.

ADJOURNMENT
Ed Lykins made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Mark St. Clair. A vote was taken and it carried.

CLOSING PRAYER
The closing prayer was given by Dennis Forsythe.

The September report was compiled by Secretary Carol Thatcher.

linebkrnd The Nov. 9, 2010 CMF meeting was held at the Mt. Orab Church of Christ with Dennis Forsythe Lloyd Dunn giving the opening prayer.

SCRIPTURE READING
Lloyd Dunn read Eph. 4:11-13, which discusses preparing God’s people for work and the fulfill of God’s commands.

ROLL CALL
Ed and Connie Lykins, Carol Thatcher, Nancy Mays, Cheryl Jennings, John Hendrix, Mark and Lisa St.Clair, Melissa Cooper, Steve and Sue Johnson, Lloyd Dunn, Denny Anspach, Fred and Clarine Tracy, Bill Christman, Dennis Forsythe, Fay Cline, Terry and Marilyn Parker, and Daniel Jean Claude.

SECRETARY REPORT
The report was read.  Fay Cline made a motion to accept the report as read.  John Hendrix seconded the motion.  A vote was taken and it carried.

TREASURER'S REPORT
The Treasurer’s report was read, the current Building Materials Fund is $30,859.43.  There was a balance of $10,000 deposited back into the account following the return of the 2010 work trip. The treasure’s record books are open for anyone to inspect at any time if you have any questions about the account.  Fay Cline made a motion to accept the report.  Dennis Forsythe seconded the motion.   A vote was taken and it carried.

OLD AND UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Ed Lykins gave a report on the 2010 work trip. He gave an overview of the materials used in each of the jobs.  If anyone would like to see the itemized list of building supplies purchased by the CMF for the project, feel free to talk to Ed.  All planned work and more on the Bigot church building was completed.  The planned work at Moise’s church was started and $320 was left to pay for the needed building supplies. Church members will be able to finish the outhouses and shower.   All members of the work team worked well together and great things were accomplished in the name of our Lord.

Further discussion followed about ways to cut costs and luggage poundage when traveling in 2012.  There were tools and kitchen items left in a locked tool box at Sainsurin’s home.  These items will be there for the workers when they return on future trips. The nights stay at a safe house may not be needed in the future.  A later flight out of Haiti may be an answer to cut $100+  from each worker’s personal cost for any future trip.

Nancy Mays has made a CD of pictures taken while in Haiti.  With only minor changes, it can be used for future CMF mission presentations.  It is a good representation of what life was like the week the work team was in Haiti and the work sites.

NEW BUSINESS
The fundraiser in Shelbyville, KY on November 21 was discussed.  The CMF will be supplying the food for an antique auction this day.  The menu, amounts of food needed, and prices were discussed.

A future work project for the 2012 work trip was discussed. Some of the members of the work team were able to visit different church sites to see first hand the needs of these existing Christian Church.  Some need their church buildings repaired and others need new buildings built. It will be discussed again at a later date before a definite project will be voted on.

ADJOURNMENT
Ed Lykins made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Steve Johnson. A vote was taken and it carried.

bkrnd SEPTEMBER 2010 MEETING MINUTES
linebkrnd The Sept. 14, 2010 CMF meeting was held at the Bethlehem Church of Christ with Dennis Forsythe giving the opening prayer.

SCRIPTURE READING
Galatians 6:7 and following was read by Marilyn Parker. It tells how we will reap what we sow.  It goes on to instruct us to do good to all who belong to the body of Christ.

ROLL CALL
Ed Lykins, Carol Thatcher, Scott Mays, Cheryl Jennings, John Hendrix, Jim Tutt, Lisa St.Clair, Melissa Cooper, Steve Johnson, Lloyd Dunn, Denny Anspach, Fred and Clarine Tracy, John Hendrix, Bill Christman, Andrew Glancy, Marilyn and Terry Parker.

SECRETARY'S REPORT
The reading of the report was waived by vote because everyone has had a copy prior to the meeting to read over.  John Hendrix made a motion to accept the report as written.  Scott Mays seconded the motion.  A vote was taken and it carried.

TREASURER'S REPORT
The Treasurer’s report was read, the current Building Materials Fund is $26,676.76.  This is the total monies from all fundraisers and donations given toward the 2010 work project.  Personal transportation monies being hold for the members who are planning to go on the work trip in October 2010 is not included in this balance.  John Hendrix made a motion to accept the report.  Lisa St.Clair seconded the motion.   A vote was taken and it carried.

OLD AND UNFINISHED BUSINESS
A group from the Oak Park Christian Church in Grover Beach, CA is making plans to accompany the CMF work team in October to Haiti.  This will help in completing the needed work projects.  God has blessed the CMF with the needed help whenever there is a true need.  It is only by the grace of God that the Oak Park church even knew about the CMF and the mission work being done.

There are 11 local members planning to go.  Airline tickets have been purchased, passports are current, immunizations are up to date, and packing has started for the trip to Gonaives, Haiti.

Those going are: Ed Lykins – Peebles, Jim Tutt, Nancy and Scott Mays - Sardinia, Mark St.Clair and Cheryl Jennings – Mowrystown, Bill Christman and Andrew Glancy - Owensville, John Hendrix – West Union, Doug Ford – Mulberry IN, and Lloyd Dunn – Mt. Orab

The 5K Run/Walk scheduled for September 18th was discussed.  The signs to advertise the upcoming race are to be put out early so people will know of the event.  The t-shirts are printed and ready to be passed out at the race.  Dennis Forsythe, thank you for overseeing the t-shirt purchasing and printing. Terry and Marilyn Parker again have everything organized and ready for the race day.   Job assignments for the race were made.  This fundraiser will be a fun day for the workers and the participants.

October 1st and 2nd are the dates for the Draft Horse Days at Fawsett, Ohio.  We will be providing the food for the event.  In the past this has been an enjoyable fundraiser for the CMF.  Come for the day and share in the good food and  fellowship with the CMF while you are there.

NEW BUSINESS
Ed Lykins shared information about the house the group would be staying in while in Gonaives and the work needing done during the week.  There was discussion about how to get all supplies to Haiti.  With the weight restrictions on luggage, this has to be a priority when flying. Sending electrical supplies through the mail to California is going to be checked into.   If it is not cost prohibitive, a box will be shipped to the Oak Park church members for them to pack and bring to Haiti.  This will save having any costly overweight luggage.

Everyone traveling to Haiti will need: an air mattress to sleep on, mosquito net, immunizations for Hepatitis A and B, Malaria medicine (to take before, during, and after the trip), up to date on their tetanus shot,  and a flu shot if possible.

Checked luggage will need to be brought to the next meeting so tools, building supplies, and food items can be added to the under weight bags.  This will help in staying under the 50# weight limit for each piece of checked luggage.

ADJOURNMENT
Melissa Cooper made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Fred Tracy. A vote was taken and it carried.

The next CMF monthly meeting will be October 12 at 7 p.m. at the Lykins Welding Shop just outside Peebles at 1414 Portsmouth Road. Please continue to pray for the Haitian people and their present and future needs and the CMF as it works to provide them a safe church building to worship our Lord and Savior in.  Also keep praying for the workers, and their families, who will be leaving to go on the work trip to Gonaives, Haiti October 22nd and returning in November 1st.
The LORD has continually blesses the Christian Missionary Fellowship.  We also pray for each one of you as you support this mission work by offering up prayers, giving encouragement, participating in our fundraisers, and financially supporting the work at all levels.

NEW BUSINESS
Steve Johnson continues to talk with the travel agent whom he used to book the 2010 Work Trip air flights. The reimbursement process with American Airlines takes time. As soon as the monies is sent to the CMF Treasure, each person’s ticket cost will then be reimbursed.

Steve Johnson reports he has gotten information on sending monies from our local bank to Haiti so the transaction will not be as costly. The last bank transaction cost $10 compared to the $60 to $80 CMF has paid in the past.

Ed Lykins shared e-mails and phone calls he has had with Reggie Thomas, with the Whitefields organization, Sainsurin Jean-Baptiste in Haiti, and others connected with the work being done in Haiti. Reggie has traveled to Haiti and will be sharing with Ed his finding when he returns to the States next week. Reggie knows the capability of the CMF group and will be giving a list of prospective work sites to Ed. This will give the CMF the information needed to make wise plans for a future work project this fall or early 2011. Safety of the group, the different weather cycles in Haiti, as well as suitable work projects must be factored into this decision. Make this a prayer concern as the Lord leads the CMF as decisions are being made.

A motion was made by Jim Tutt for the CMF to send monies to Sainsurin Jean-Baptiste for building projects in Gonaives. Lisa StClair seconded the motion and all members present agreed.

A motion was made by Lisa StClair to send $5,000 of the CMF building fund monies to Sainsurin Jean-Baptiste. He is to oversee the building of pews in the Bigot church and in Mealio’s church. These are two of the churches where the 2010 work team had planed to work. The motion was seconded by Fay Cline and a vote was taken. It was agreed on by all members present.

A motion was made by Steve Johnson to send $5,000 to Sainsurin Jean-Baptiste to purchase internal building supplies for the Bigot church building. Cheryl Jennings seconded the motion and all members present agreed with the motion.

The balcony is still needing a railing across its front, the main floor of the church is needing work where the old church building was removed since CMF was there last, electric wiring needs to be installed, the baptistery needs finished, bathrooms finished, classrooms finished, and so on. The one stipulation asked of Sainsurin is he report back to the group as he spends the money and what work is accomplished. He has shown himself very reliable in this area in the past.

2010 fundraisers were discussed. The annual fundraisers which have been in place in the past will continue: the 5K Run/Walk, a benefit supper, the corn hole tournament, and the meals at the Draft Horse Days. There is always room for new ones to start. As more people becoming involved in the CMF activities and things change, so will the kinds and numbers of fundraisers. More discussion will continue as plans are made in the future. If you have any ideas, speak up. All ideas are welcome.

A need to update the CMF presentation format shared with churches and other groups was discussed. A time and date will be set at the next meeting other than at a monthly meeting. .

The next CMF monthly meeting will be April 13th at 7:00pm at the Mowrystown Church of Christ. Many car pool to the meeting. Everyone is welcome. At this Annual Membership Meeting, a filled ballet will be submitted to the members present. An election will follow.
